Welcome to another edition of NHL Predictions! We hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far. Usually, 13 is an unlucky number. However, that is not the case today, as the NHL has 13 games on the schedule. This prediction takes us to a Western Conference matchup in the Midwest. The St. Louis Blues are playing the Los Angeles Kings.
NHL Predictions
St. Louis Blues vs. Los Angeles Kings
Time: 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time
TV: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, KCAL-TV
Head-to-Head: Blues Lead All-Time Series 124-92-22-4
The Blues and Kings are meeting for the first time this season. Last year, the Blues won the season series 2-1. If you are curious about who will win this year’s season series, you will not have to wait long. The three-game series will be played within the next seven days. The two teams will see a lot of each other.
Blues Busy On and Off the Ice
Like all other NHL teams, the trade deadline has been a busy time for the Blues. The team has been busy on and off the ice. On the ice, the Blues have won three games in a row. This includes a win on Tuesday, where the Blues scored seven goals, and a win on Thursday against the Eastern Conference-leading Washington Capitals. In each game, the Blue Note got a two-goal performance from someone. On Tuesday, it was Zachary Bolduc. On Thursday, it was Philip Broberg.
Off the ice, the organization has been busy as well. On Friday, the team re-signed defenceman Tyler Tucker to a two-year contract extension. However, the trade deadline is providing the bulk of the off-ice business. The Blues have less than a week to decide if they will be sellers. We know the Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in captain Brayden Schenn. It will be interesting to see if the Maple Leafs can persuade Doug Armstrong to part with his captain. In addition to Schenn, it will be interesting to see if anything comes of the rumours that Armstrong may be shopping Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich.
After Saturday, the Blues are on the road for six games. As a result, Saturday could be the last home game for any Blues who are traded.
Kings Seeking Home-Ice Advantage
The Kings are in a strong position to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are 31-17-8 and are just a few points out of first place in the Pacific Division. The Kings like where they are, but they are aiming for more.
The Kings have been the victims of a first-round exit each of the last three seasons. Each time, the Kings lost to the Edmonton Oilers. Furthermore, the Kings did not have home-ice advantage in any series. The Kings are looking to get over the hump this year. Earning home-ice advantage would help immensely. With about a month and a half left in the season, the Kings have plenty of time to not only snag home-ice but also the division title.
Prediction
The Kings come to St. Louis after playing on Friday. They are likely to have a different lineup when they take on the Blues, who last played on Thursday. Things are clicking for the Blue Note. We think they pick up the two points on Saturday.
Blues win, 5-2.
Prop Bets
The over/under is set at 5.5 goals. We are taking the over with seven goals.
For prop bets, we are taking Adrian Kempe as an anytime-scorer for the Kings. The Swede leads the team in goals and is nearing the 30-goal mark. For the Blues, we are taking their captain. It may be Schenn’s last game in St. Louis. Why not pick him to give the Blues faithful one more fun memory?
