Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford has been named the American League Player of the Month for September
Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford has been named the American League Player of the Month for September, it was announced today. He was also named the American League Rookie of the Month for September. Langford had 114 plate appearances over 26 games in September, slashing .300/.386/.610 with 8 home runs and 7 stolen bases. For us stat nerds, I will note he had a .422 wOBA and .384 xwOBA for the month..
Langford was the fourth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, and made the Rangers’ Opening Day roster despite having just 200 professional plate appearances coming into the year. Langford’s rookie campaign was somewhat up and down and included a stint on the i.l., but he finished the year on a heater, and hopefully will carry that over to the 2025 season.
For the year, Langford slashed .253/.325/.415 in 557 plate appearances over 134 games, good for a 111 OPS+, and stole 19 bases in 22 attempts. He ends the year with a 3.9 bWAR and a 2.8 fWAR.
