Morning, all!
The Rangers’ pursuit of Roki Sasaki was apparently much like my pursuit of Meagan Trainor’s hand in marriage, which is to say entirely one sided. Kyle Higashioka says that Sasaki will be missing out on some pretty classy clubhouse amenities, though.
The Rangers are eyeing the international free agent class to see what might shake loose when Sasaki finally signs somewhere, and have only spent about half their available bonus pool money.
Among the Rangers’ international haul are Hansel Ramirez, son of former major leaguer Hanley Ramirez, and bat-first outfielder Elorky Rodriguez.
The deal with Victory+ means the Rangers think they can cobble together a mix of game broadcasts through streaming and linear services that will be more favorable to the team, the fans, or both than dealing with Diamond Sports Holdings or letting MLB handle production.
Evan Grant covers some FAQs on the Victory+ deal, including the expected subscription cost and what other viewing options might be available.
