Mariners 3, Rangers 1
Mariners 3, Rangers 1
- Sigh.
- Nathan Eovaldi started for the Rangers did fine, except for the first inning, when he gave up a two run home run, and the sixth inning, when a single and an error was followed by a pair of hit batters, forcing home a run.
- Eovaldi was then pulled for Hoby Milner, who did a masterful job getting out of the inning, getting a force out at the plate and a pair of Ks. Jacob Webb and Robert Garcia each threw a shutout inning after that. Seattle was held to three runs.
- It didn’t matter though, because the Rangers only scored one run. One. One run. On a Dustin Harris home run, of all things.
- Texas had four hits and one walk. That is both not good and way too typical of how the offense has performed so far this year.
- If the offense doesn’t show significant improvement, it doesn’t matter what the pitching does…this season will be doomed.
- DOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!
- Nathan Eovaldi topped out at 96.3 mph with his fastball, averaging 93.9 mph. Hoby Milner’s sinker touched 87.9 mph. Jacob Webb maxed out at 94.1 mph. Robert Garcia hit 95.7 mph with his fastball.
- Joc Pederson had a 106.3 mph ground out. Josh Smith had a 106.1 mph ground out. Corey Seager had a 103.3 mph ground out. Dustin Harris had a 102.9 mph home run.
- Now an off day. Hopefully that, and a return home, will help.
