A pair of Rangers are among the finalists for the Gold Glove Awards
Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien and first baseman Nathaniel Lowe have been named finalists at their respective positions for the American League Gold Glove Awards, it was announced today.
Lowe won his first Gold Glove last season for the Rangers. The other two finalists he is going up against this year are Ryan Mountcastle of the Orioles and Carlos Santana of the Twins. Lowe is second in the American League in OAA among first basemen with at least 800 innings played, at +7, behind Santana at +14. He is fourth in DRS, at +1, behind Santana and Mountcastle at +8 and Anthony Rizzo at +2.
Semien won a Gold Glove for Toronto in 2021. He is going up against fellow finalists Nicky Lopez of the White Sox (even though Lopez only played 640 innings at second base) and Cleveland’s Andres Gimenez. Semien and Gimenez are tied in OAA at +19. Semien is second in DRS, with +10, behind Gimenez, who is at +20.
