Reliever Daniel Robert has been optioned to AAA Round Rock
The Texas Rangers have optioned relief pitcher Daniel Robert to AAA Round Rock, the team announced today.
Robert made his major league debut last season, putting up a 3.18 ERA in 5.2 IP over four appearances. His chances of making the team out of spring training seemed unlikely, given the number of other righthanded options in place and the fact that he has options.
The Rangers now have 48 players in the major league camp. That includes Gerson Garabito, who was recalled to the major league side after having been optioned earlier this spring. 30 of those 48 players are on the 40 man roster, 16 are NRIs, and two are on the 60 day injured list.
