Seven — count ‘em, seven — Rangers roster moves ahead of Tuesday night’s game
The Texas Rangers make a passel of roster moves today.
Joining the active roster are pitcher Josh Sborz, who was activated from the injured list, outfielder Dustin Harris, who was recalled from AAA Round Rock, and infielder Matt Duffy, whose contract was purchased from AAA Round Rock.
Leaving the active roster are pitcher Walter Pennington, who was optioned to AAA Round Rock, utility guy Ezequiel Duran, who was placed on the MLB Paternity List, and third baseman Josh Jung, who was placed on the 10 day injured list.
In addition, pitcher Tyler Mahle was transferred from the 15 day injured list to the 60 day injured list to open up a 40 man roster spot for Duffy.
Not really much to say here. Duffy is up because, with Jung and Duran out, the Rangers need a backup infielder. I would assume he gets designated for assignment when Duran returns from the paternity list in a day or two, though even if he isn’t, he’ll be a free agent after the season.
