Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford is sidelined for 5-7 days due to a mild oblique strain
Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford will be out 5-7 days due to a mild oblique strain, per the beats. Langford apparently suffered the injury earlier this week and had it impact him when he was taking swings yesterday, which resulted in an MRI that showed the strain.
This is the first notable injury of the spring for the Rangers, and hopefully it is a minor issue that won’t keep Langford out for long. Oblique issues can be tricky, and the general mindset with them is to be conservative in returning from them because returning too quickly can cause them to recur or get worse.
The reports indicate that it is not expected to impact Langford’s ability to be ready for Opening Day, which is still over a month away. Hopefully a week of being shut down will allow Langford to get back to 100% and return to action with plenty of Cactus League action remaining.
