Would you vote for Felix Hernandez for the Baseball Hall of Fame?
The Baseball Writers Association of America has released the ballot for the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame voting, so are doing polls on the players on the list.
Today is pitcher Felix Hernandez.
Felix Hernandez debuted in 2005 as a 19 year old with the Seattle Mariners and hit the ground running, putting up a 2.67 ERA in 12 starts. After a sophomore slump where he had a 4.52 ERA in 31 starts, Hernandez spent the next nine seasons performing at a level that ranged from “above average” to “elite.” In that stretch, from 2007-15, he had a 3.00 ERA and 3.15 FIP in 1987 innings over 291 starts, with a 131 ERA+ and a 45.8 bWAR. He won the Cy Young Award in 2010, finished second in 2009 and 2014, and had three other top five finishes, as well as six All Star appearances.
From 2016 on, however, Hernandez struggled to be healthy and effective, essentially being replacement level from 2016 through 2019. He became a free agent after the 2019 season and signed with the Atlanta Braves, but opted out of the 2020 COVID season. He signed with the Baltimore Orioles for 2021, but was released at the end of spring training, and hung it up after that.
So, if you were a Hall of Fame voter this year, would you vote for Curtis Granderson?
