Would you vote for Adam Jones for the Baseball Hall of Fame?
The Baseball Writers Association of America has released the ballot for the 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame voting, so are doing polls on the players on the list.
Today is outfielder Adam Jones.
Adam Jones was originally a supplemental first round pick of the Seattle Mariners in the 2003 MLB Draft. Originally a shortstop, he moved to the outfield a couple of years after being drafted, and played exclusively the outfield as a major league, with about 90% of his games coming in center field.
Jones had some action in the majors in 2006 and 2007 for the Mariners, but spent most of those seasons in the minors. After the 2007 season, the Mariners sent Jones, Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, Kam Mickolio, and Tony Butler to the Baltimore Orioles for pitcher Erik Bedard. It was a disastrous deal for the M’s, and likely contributed to the firing in 2008 of M’s g.m. Bill Bavasi, setting the stage for our old pal Jack Z. to take the reins for an entertaining (if you were not a Mariners fan) stint atop of the Mariners’ baseball operations.
Upon joining the Orioles, Jones became fixture in the Baltimore lineup for the next 11 years, manning center field and hitting at or near the top of the order. Jones was named to five All Star teams in that span, won four Gold Gloves and one Silver Slugger, and finished 6th in the MVP voting in 2012.
Upon becoming a free agent after the 2018 season, Jones played one year for the Arizona Diamondbacks, then played in Japan for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
For his career, Jones slashed .277/.317/.454 with 1939 hits and 282 home runs, with 32.6 career bWAR.
So, if you were a Hall of Fame voter this year, would you vote for Adam Jones?
