Former Texas Ranger Jose Trevino has been traded to the Cincinnati Reds
The New York Yankees traded catcher Jose Trevino to the Cincinnati Reds for reliever Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson, it has been announced.
This is a rather minor deal, and I probably wouldn’t be doing a post about this except for the fact that Trevino is a former Texas Ranger. Trevino was dealt to the Yankees by the Rangers at the end of spring training, 2022, after Jonah Heim beat out Trevino for the job backing up Mitch Garver. Trevino has spent the past three seasons with the Yankees, slashing .230/.279/.361 in 243 games with New York.
Trevino is entering his final year of arbitration eligibility, and will be a free agent after the 2025 season.
