Four home runs propels Texas to victory
The Texas Rangers scored five runs while the Anaheim Angels scored two runs.
The Rangers got home runs from Wyatt Langford, Adolis Garcia, Carson Kelly, and Marcus Semien on their way to a win in the opener of the final series of the season.
Three of the dingers came off Angels’ starter Reid Detmers, which made for a little bit of revenge as Detmers frustratingly dominated the Rangers last season at various points of the year and those outings seemed to send them into weeks long spirals of being unable to score that mirrored how things went basically this entire season.
Maybe teeing off on Detmers is the exorcism that the Rangers need to put 2024 behind them.
Player of the Game:
It’s going to be a long six months not getting to watch Jacob deGrom after it was a long 16 months not getting to watch Jacob deGrom after it was a long lifetime not getting to watch Jacob deGrom pitch for the Rangers.

The Rangers got four innings on 53 pitches from deGrom tonight. He allowed a run on four hits with zero walks and five strikeouts. deGrom successfully completed his return from TJS but we were only able to see him for 10 2⁄3 innings this season and in those innings, he was excellent.
It’s easy to leave the 2024 season behind, but it’s hard to be away from deGrom again over a long winter.
Up Next: The penultimate contest of the 2024 season sees hard luck lefty Andrew Heaney get one final shot at being unsupported by the Texas bats while the Angels will counter with RHP Griffin Canning.
The Saturday evening first pitch from the Big A is scheduled for 8:38 pm CT and will be aired on BS Southwest.
