Nothing like a little home cookin’
The Texas Rangers scored 13 runs while the Toronto Blue Jays scored eight runs.
A plane ride and a day off from one of their worst days at the plate — a day where Texas sent just the minimum to the plate in a one-hit, shutout loss to Seattle, the Rangers came back home ready the take it out on Toronto at The Shed tonight.
Tonight’s starter Nathan Eovaldi didn’t have it in what could be his final home start as a Ranger (a bummer though, to be sure), but he did see a player option vest by making it to 300 IP over his two seasons in Texas. Of course, if you count the playoffs, he breezed past that number and made himself a legend ‘round these parts in the process.
However, tonight, Eovaldi was well and truly hittable as the Blue Jays put eleven hits and seven runs on the veteran as he couldn’t get the last outs to convert what had been a 7-3 lead heading into the fifth into qualifying for a victory as the Blue Jays tied the game and knocked him out of the game after 4 2⁄3 innings.
What Eovaldi lacked in his usual rock solid pitching, the Texas bats made up for with unusual-in-2024 run support. With Toronto up 3-0 on a laboring Eovaldi, the Rangers scored the next seven runs and then scored the game’s next three runs after the Blue Jays tied the contest before they put the game away late.
All in all Texas had just their second double digit output in nearly two months and halted a losing streak that cropped up on the road out west.
Player of the Game: The biggest bat for the Rangers tonight was Wyatt Langford, who has been taking on the role of lineup main character with Corey Seager out for the rest of the year.

After going 3-for-4 tonight with a couple of walks, three runs scored, two RBI, a ringing double, and an opposite field home run, Langford is slashing .345/.424/.672 over the last 15 days. The season looks like it may be ending right as Langford is figuring it all out, but at least he’s ending his rookie year on a high note.
Up Next: More Rangers and Jays with LHP Cody Bradford eyeing a bounce back performance for Texas opposite Mr. Dave Stieb 2.0 Bowden Francis, who has twice lost a no-hitter in the ninth inning in the last three weeks.
The Wednesday evening first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT and will be telecast on BS Southwest for your viewing pleasure.
