The Dallas Cowboys played their second exhibition game of the season late on Saturday night. For fans in central and eastern time zones, it may have been a bit too little too late as the kickoff was 10pm ET and it was, after all, a game that doesn’t count towards the playoffs.
But for those who stayed up to watch the 27-12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, there was plenty to consume and even more to pontificate on after its conclusion. The majority of the time, the top 40 or so spots on a 53-man roster are secure before camp even begins. For the other 13 or so spots plus the 16-man practice squad (17 for the Cowboys), these games matter a lot.
The Dallas defense looks sharp, but may be deeper than many realized. The biggest question facing the club is what do they have down roster on offense to try and continue their tradition at the top of league statistical categories. Some of those questions started to get answered as well.
