The Dallas Cowboys aren’t even going to wait until training camp to move on from Martavis Bryant.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys are releasing Bryant from their roster this Wednesday.
Bryant, a former fourth-round pick from Clemson, signed with the Cowboys in November 2023. He then signed a reserve/future contract in January.
Cowboys fans were hopeful that Bryant could resurrect his career in Dallas, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.
The good news for Bryant is that it sounds like he’ll get at least one more chance in the NFL. Pelissero said, “Other teams are interested and expected to bring him in for a look.”
Bryant started his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He then had a brief stint with the Oakland Raiders before bouncing around leagues.
In 44 career games, Bryant hauled in 145 passes for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns. What made him such an intriguing playmaker was that he could stretch the field despite being 6-foot-4.
Hopefully for Bryant’s sake, he lands a new contract very soon.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, seem to be content with their wide receiver room. It currently features CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin.
