The Baltimore Ravens or Carolina Panthers may be favorites for frustrating cut candidate linebacker, Randy Gregory this summer. According to a report, there may be drama unfolding as the pass rusher is cutting contact with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers even though he just got there. The team was able to bring him into a one-year deal worth up to $5 million with the thought he might be able to regain his original form. However, things are not looking bright for a team that’s looking for a replacement for Devin White and Shaquil Barrett.
The linebacker has a history of issues with the league, stemming from suspensions due to the usage of illegal substances to treating mental disorders. It was a low-risk, high-reward signing for the team but it looks like his NFL career is in shambles with the way he’s treating his current situation. Gregory’s time looks to be over in Tampa Bay before he steps on the field with them, incurring more than $100,000 in fines from missing mandatory camp. Head Coach Todd Bowles didn’t seem interested in talking about the situation but he expects him to show up in this year’s training camp.
It’s not clear what’s causing his absence from the team but a fresh start might be the right step for him. Gregory has spent seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers but soon with another roster. The Ravens are one team that could look into his services once he deals with his legal trouble. However, it’s the biggest need but Roquan Smith and Kyle Van Noy do need another supplement to help provide insurance.
The same can be said about the Panthers who already brought in Jadeveon Clowney to help opposite of Shaq Thompson.

Possible Next Teams
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers somehow were able to bring back two of their best edge rushers, Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack after rumors of them moving on. They were able to agree on a new contract to keep them around but the only issue is the depth behind them. Gregory could step in as the No. 2 on the depth chart to float in the field whenever. Los Angeles’ offense doesn’t look to be playoff material so why not continue bolstering their defense to make it great?
Jim Harbaugh is establishing a strong running game for the team but he wants to build an old-school defense. This is the type of style that Gregory could look forward to and enjoy football again.
Dallas Cowboys
The defense for America’s team looks weak despite trying to replace Dante Fowler Jr., Dorance Armstrong and Leighton Vander-Esch. Dallas was only able to respond by bringing Eric Kendricks on a one-year deal to help supply some life. However, the Cowboys have been quiet this offseason to improve their offense so they might as well build a physical defense that’s going to give Dak Prescott plenty of opportunities to see the field. A reunion with Gregory doesn’t look to be in the rearview mirror for the Cowboys since the issues they were having but Jerry Jones loves to give players second chances.
Kansas City Chiefs
This is a destination that would clear the mind of Gregory who may want to ring chase before he decides to leave the NFL. Things are looking like he won’t be playing in the league much longer so this move would make sense to win a Super Bowl before he hangs up his cleats. However, the Chiefs have a lot of big shoes to fill at the linebacker expecting big things from Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal. Gregory’s presence could give the team a much-needed experienced veteran to help improve the position.
