Dak Prescott’s return to the football field on Thursday night was an emotional one for those close to him.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback played for the first time since his devastating season-ending injury in October 2020. Prescott looked incredible, though the Cowboys weren’t able to pull off a victory against Tom Brady and the Bucs.
Still, it was a very encouraging debut for Prescott and his team. He threw for 403 yards and 3 touchdowns while completing 72.4 percent of his passes.
Prescott’s girlfriend, Natalie Buffett, shared an emotional message about his return.
“Got so much love for this game and the relationships it has brought me,” Buffett shared on Instagram before kickoff.

The game was a special one for Buffett, too.
“Grew up in this stadium wearing my [Mike] Alstott jersey to every game. Only to move out of my home state and come back to cheer on my own boyfriend in the same stadium surrounded by my family. God is good,” Buffett, a Florida native, wrote on her Instagram Story.
“Go get em babe @_4dak.”
Buffett and Prescott have been dating for more than a year. She’s been there every step of the way with his injury and recovery.

Prescott and the Cowboys will return to the football field next Sunday.
Dallas is set to play against the Chargers in Los Angeles in Week 2. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. E.T.
Buffett will likely be in the stands cheering her boyfriend on.
