CeeDee Lamb wants a new long-term contract from the Dallas Cowboys. So far, the two sides have yet to come to an agreement.
On Monday, popular NFL Twitter rumor account @prettyrickey213 posted some interesting scuttlebutt. Pretty Rickey claims that if the Cowboys don’t offer Lamb “at least $32 million” per season, making him the second-highest paid wideout in the NFL, he plans on requesting a trade.
We’ll have to wait and see how the situation plays out to determine if this rumor has any validity to it, but it certainly got fans talking on social media.
“Stephen refuses to hand out market setting money to players that deserve it (until he does),” said NFL Draft analyst Connor Livesay. “Getting Dak and Ceedee done last year would have realistically saved the Cowboys $15ish million. Disaster front office continues to be a disaster.”
“I know this tweet is making the rounds among Cowboys fans, specifically questions as to whether it’s true. I won’t speak to any potential trade request, but I do believe that $32 million figure is the exact salary floor that CeeDee’s camp is holding to,” added 105.3 The Fan Cowboys reporter Bobby Belt.
“There’s a lot of incompetence in sports…. but the #DallasCowboys are the Mona Lisa of incompetency,” a Dallas fan lamented.
“Yawn. CeeDee is going to be in Dallas for a long time,” another Cowboys fan countered.
“Howie has the chance to do the funniest thing ever,” an Eagles fan joked.
Lamb is coming off a season in which he recorded career-highs in receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749) and receiving touchdowns (12). He made his third-straight Pro Bowl and earned first-team All-Pro honors.
Currently, Minnesota Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson is the highest-paid wide receiver in terms of annual salary at $35 million per year. Right behind him is A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles at $32 million.
Detroit Lions standout Amon-Ra St. Brown and Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill are the only other wideouts who make at least $30 million annually.
