Cowboys
- Cowboys WR Jalen Tolbert on being completely healthy for offseason workouts: “My rookie year, I think I lost almost every bit of my confidence. Coming off a hamstring injury in OTAs and then trying to catch up, and then just moving around, playing every (WR) spot.” (Jon Machota)
- Tolbert continued: “I was thinking way more than I should instead of just going out there and having fun, knowing that I belong here, that I’m valuable at this level and can play very high at this level. That’s something that I had to build back up. … It’s completely different now. It’s a 180. I’m confident. I’m having fun.”(Machota)
- Dallas LB DeMarvion Overshown will likely play weakside linebacker this season and put on around 13 pounds after recovering from a knee injury: “That was more of a me thing. Seeing my future in this league and what was going to be best for my body and being productive on the field. … Gaining lean mass, muscle weight, getting stronger. … I’m gonna go into camp a little bigger and drop to where I want to play at, which would be around 233 (pounds).” (Machota)
- Cowboys LB Eric Kendricks talked about re-adjusting to DC Mike Zimmer’s defense in their first season reunited: “Obviously I have a lot of experience in it. We’re doing things a little bit differently. We’ve added a lot of things, so I’m still learning. I’m still trying to check my ego. I don’t know all the answers. (Machota)
- Kendricks continued: “But at the same time, I have a lot of experience. I know the weaknesses, I know the strengths of this defense. I know what it’s capable of. We have a lot of guys on this team who haven’t really played in this defense. They don’t even know yet, but it suits them very well, so I can’t wait to see it.” (Machota)
- Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy gave an update on DE Micah Parsons who hasn’t been a full participant at OTAs: “Micah has been in and out. Spent a lot of time with him Friday. He looks great. He’s in excellent shape. He hasn’t missed anything.” (Jon Machota)
Eagles
The Eagles made a splash in free agency by signing RB Saquon Barkley and investing in their backfield. New Philadelphia OC Kellen Moore is thrilled to have a player with Barkley’s skill set in his offense.
“Saquon is a premier running back, first and foremost,” Moore said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “We’re really excited about his ability to run the football. Obviously behind this offensive line, he’s done a tremendous job. They have such cohesion and done a great job up front. He’s going to be a great running back.”
“We know the aspects that make him great. It’s his ability to be a great pass protector, to be a receiver out of the backfield. He does a phenomenal job with those things. Obviously, we’ve got to try to utilize him as much as we can while understanding it’s a long season for running backs.”
Giants
- The Giants would start CBs Deonte Banks and Cordale Flott if the season started today, per DBs coach Jerome Henderson. (Ryan Dunleavy)
- New York HC Brian Daboll mentioned QB Daniel Jones is doing individual drills and 7-on-7 but not full team stuff yet. (Connor Hughes)
- Jones said he feels good physically and mentally and mentioned rehab has been smooth. (Hughes)
- Jones added he plans to be a full participant at the start of training camp. (Hughes)
- Daboll also noted OL Jon Runyan Jr. will be at RG on Thursday, OL Jermaine Eluemunor will play LG, and OL Evan Neal will get snaps at RT. (Jordan Raanan)
- New Giants DE Brian Burns is very fond of the game knowledge of DT Dexter Lawrence: “He has a lot of tricks that he picked up along the way. His IQ is second to none.” (Dan Salomone)
- Burns also noted he’s trying to bring some friendly competition with DE Kayvon Thibodeaux like DE Haason Reddick had with him in Carolina. (Dunleavy)
- According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, his biggest takeaway from OTAs is that Daboll called the plays instead of OC Mike Kafka.
