Mike McCarthy noted Cooper Rush will remain the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys did not score a touchdown on Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia Eagles, the second full game in a row in which this was the case.
It was a tough day for Cooper Rush in his first start for the team in two years, so tough that at a few different points Trey Lance came in to see if he could make anything happen himself.
If there was any assumption on your end that Lance would get the nod in the aftermath of Sunday’s debacle, you can go ahead and think again. Mike McCarthy spoke on Monday and noted that Cooper Rush will remain the team’s starting quarterback. Shortly after this it was reported that Will Grier is the third quarterback who Dallas is bringing in.

The Cowboys aren’t in action again for a full week as they will host the Houston Texans next week on Monday Night Football. That is Cooper Rush in primetime, baby.
In Rush’s defense he has only started one game for the team, an objectively awful one, and that is a very small sample size. On the other hand though, this Cowboys team is, and has been, going nowhere for a long time now which means giving Lance a full and firm opportunity could be in everyone’s best interest.
What’s more is, as has been noted, the Cowboys squandered a fourth-round pick on Lance last August and have yet to give him a start given that they did not have an opportunity until last week. With the season lost for good, why not see what you paid for?
It appears the Cowboys do not feel this way. Brace yourself for more Cooper Rush.
