With his contract set to make him a free agent in 2025, Dak Prescott’s days as Dallas Cowboys quarterback appear to be numbered. One Cowboys legend believes that the team should just rip the band-aid off and trade him now.
Appearing on Up & Adams, Hall of Fame pass rusher and Cowboys legend Charles Haley made the case that the team should offer Dak up for a trade now and get started on preparing for life without him. He pointed out that the Cowboys could get a lot for him and that every team in the league would want him.
“Trade Dak. Just put him up for a trade. Guess what? Every team in the league be after him… Dak is a winner, Dak is a great person, a great leader,” Haley said.
It wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. While the Cowboys probably want to make one more push for a Super Bowl with Dak at the helm, they would basically be putting all of their eggs in one basket this year and be scratching their heads after the season whether they win a title or not.
The Cowboys don’t have a clear successor or replacement for Dak right now and haven’t exactly spent a whole lot of time investing in developing their backups either.
Should the Cowboys trade Dak Prescott before the 2025 offseason? If so, when would be the best time to make such a deal?
