The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly open to kicking the tires on a former first-round pick at cornerback.
Per ML Football, the team is expected to work out Deandre Baker after starring in the UFL for the D.C. Defenders.
Baker was selected 30th overall by the New York Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft following an All-American career at Georgia. However, he was released by the G-Men just one year into his career after being charged with armed robbery in September of 2020.
The charges were later dropped but the damage was done. Baker was then picked up by the Chiefs once he was reinstated by the league but a season-ending leg injury ended his KC career at just 10 games.
At 26-years-old Baker is still young with the potential to add some depth to a talented Cowboys secondary.
The former Bulldog made the most of his second chance in the UFL this spring by earning an All-League selection with 22 tackles and three pass breakups.
We’ll see if Baker is able to do something similar should he get the opportunity to suit up for Dallas in the upcoming campaign.
