The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders aren’t just supportive of Taylor Swift, they believe they can relate to her as well.
Us Weekly spoke to a few members of the cheerleading squad before Netflix released “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.”
Kelli Finglass, a former cheerleader and the current director for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, addressed Swift’s impact on the NFL.
“You know, they say Taylor Swift has had an effect, an economic effect and everything else,” Finglass told Us Weekly. “I will say from our experience women and children are a huge part of our fan base. So that’s kind of always been a part of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ world.”
Cowboys cheerleader Victoria Kalina also spoke to Us Weekly about Swift’s impact on the NFL.
Kalina pointed out that some fans are watching the NFL because of Swift.
“I remember listening to an interview with Taylor Swift and there were some girls and they were like, ‘Yeah we only bought tickets so we could maybe get a glimpse of Taylor Swift,'” Kalina recalled, via Us Weekly. “My mom has encountered some people at the [Cowboys] games where they’re like, ‘Yeah we’re only here to watch the girls.’ So there’s definitely that audience too and we’re hoping to reach even more of that with this show.”
Swift certainly has a bigger fan base than the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, but it’s pretty evident they have a similar target audience.
