A recent UFL star will reportedly try out for the Dallas Cowboys.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, linebacker Willie Harvey Jr. will work out with the Cowboys on Tuesday. Harvey appeared to confirm the report by retweeting the insider’s post.
Harvey made the 2024 All-UFL team after leading the league with 76 tackles. He also bested all UFL linebackers in passes defended and forced fumbles while tallying four sacks for the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Harvey’s UFL season ended Sunday when his Battlehawks lost a conference championship matchup against the San Antonio Brahmas. This Sunday, the Brahmas will face the Birmingham Stallions for the championship.
“St. Louis what a ride,” Harvey wrote on social media. “THANK YOU!”
Before joining the UFL, Harvey spent two stints with the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and 2021. Playing two games each season, he recorded two tackles on 48 special teams snaps.
The former Iowa State standout said last year that he moved on from football before getting drafted to the XFL, which later merged with the USFL to form the UFL.
“I own a trucking company and I’m really big into finance and stuff like that,” Harvey told Scoops Sports Network’s Andy Carroll in March 2023. “On the side, I’m a day-trader…I was making decent enough money to where I could sustain my lifestyle outside of football.”
Harvey could now get another NFL opportunity with the Cowboys, whose defense ranked fifth in yards and points allowed last year. Mike Zimmer joins the coaching staff as Dallas’ new defensive coordinator, a role he previously held from 2000 to 2006.
