As the Cowboys’ voluntary offseason activities continue, star receiver CeeDee Lamb remains away from the team while he pushes for a big money contract extension.
Another player in a similar situation is quarterback Dak Prescott, who spoke on Lamb’s absence during his media availability after Wednesday’s practice.
“That’s my guy,” Dak said, via Dallas reporter Bri Amaranthus. “Obviously I’m going to miss him… He’s got my support and everyone in the locker room.”
Prescott and Lamb combined to form one of the league’s most prolific passing duos in 2023.
In his fourth season, the 25-year-old wideout hauled in a league-high 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. While Dak led the NFL in passing touchdowns and finished second in MVP voting.
It’s no surprise to anyone in the building that Lamb hasn’t shown up yet, as the former first-round pick hasn’t set foot on the Cowboys’ campus since the end of last year.
Lamb is reportedly due to make $18 million on his fifth-year option and would be eligible for the franchise tag in 2025. However, he wants to be paid like one of the league’s top receivers and he wants it now.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has remained patient with the situation but who knows if/when he’ll fold.
