Dak Prescott addressed his current contract situation on Tuesday.
Courtesy of The Athletic’s Jon Machota, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback hit the usual talking points when speaking to reporters about negotiations at his youth football camp in Southlake, Texas.
“There’s been conversations back and forth. But for the most part, I’m gonna let my agent do that, especially as we get right here into training camp,” Prescott said. “Day one of training camp, my mind flips to obviously helping my team and doing everything I can within the organization and on the football field to make sure I’m my best and everyone around me is their best.
“The money and all that will take care of itself, as it always has.”
Prescott has yet to sign an extension entering the final year of his contract. Whether he re-ups with Dallas or enters free agency in 2025 the 30-year-old could be in line to receive a massive payday.
Before the Cowboys lost a first-round playoff game to the Green Bay Packers, Prescott led them to another 12-5 season with 4,516 passing yards and 36 touchdowns. He finished second to Lamar Jackson in the MVP voting.
His teammate, CeeDee Lamb, is also in a contract year. While Prescott answered a contract inquiry, the star receiver said he wouldn’t discuss business at his own youth camp this week.
Per Machota, Prescott said he’s thrown a “good amount” to Lamb during the offseason. He expects the All-Pro to attend a workout with other Cowboys wide receivers before training camp.
Prescott also quelled concerns caused by him wearing a walking boot. He claimed there’s “absolutely nothing” wrong with his ankle, but he’s taking more precautions to protect his body as he ages.
