While the Dallas Cowboys suffered another early playoff exit, the other regional teams are making deep playoff runs.
The Texas Rangers won their first World Series last year, and Dallas could host another parade or two this summer. The Mavericks and Stars are both playing in the conference finals.
As a viral ESPN graphic cruelly noted, the Cowboys have conversely gone 28 years since playing in an NFC Championship Game. Per The Athletic’s Jon Machota, Prescott discussed how he feels seeing the other Dallas sports teams succeed.
“It’s not jealousy, but it fires you up,” Prescott said. “I want it for them. Go win it. Rangers did it. Other two, go do it. Put more f*****g pressure on us.”
The Cowboys have excelled with three consecutive 12-win regular seasons. Now they must translate that success into the postseason.
Mike McCarthy’s team looked like a formidable Super Bowl contender after ranking No. 5 in total offense and defense with the NFL’s second-best point differential last season. However, those title aspirations quickly crumbled in the opening round.
After going 8-0 at AT&T Stadium during the regular season, the Cowboys suffered a 48-32 home loss to the Green Bay Packers. They have just three playoff wins over the last 14 seasons.
Prescott hopes to make the Cowboys the next Dallas team to make a lengthy playoff run. The 30-year-old isn’t guaranteed another opportunity to win America’s Team a Lombardi Trophy, as the quarterback is entering his final season under contract.
