It sounds like Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could potentially be costing himself some money as he pushes for a lucrative new deal.
According to Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac, Lamb’s unexcused absence from Dallas’ mandatory minicamp makes him subject to fines that could add up to over $100,000.
Here’s a look at how it breaks down (per the NFL’s CBA):
- Day 1: $16,953
- Day 2: $33,908
- Day 3: $50,855
Lamb is expected to skip out on the team’s minicamp after missing all of the Cowboys voluntary OTAs as well.
The 25-year-old is entering the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, which would pay him nearly $18 million fully guaranteed, but would make him an unrestricted free agent after the season.
On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings locked up Justin Jefferson by signing him to a massive four-year, $140 million extension, with $110 million in guaranteed money — making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.
Lamb reportedly projects to receive a four-year, $136 million extension from Jerry Jones and Co. in Spotrac’s system; which would put him slightly below Jefferson’s historic contract.
Last season, Lamb set Cowboys team records for receptions (135) and yards (1,749) on his way to his third Pro Bowl selection and first ever first-team All-Pro honors.
