After an offseason of doing next to nothing, the Cowboys made up for it by doing a little bit of everything on Monday. The day started with a super-spicy interview from owner Jerry Jones in which he got frank and feisty (and used a whole bunch of other F-words, too) when talking about his role as the team’s general manager. Then the office issued pink slips to 15 players a day before cuts were due. That was quickly followed by news that superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had come to massive terms on a new megacontract. And the busy day ended with word that the club has summoned a four-time Pro Bowl ballcarrier to town for a late-summer workout. Whew.
Elsewhere, we’ve got more on the Lamb deal and what it means for everyone involved, we’ll examine the team’s plan to get him ramped up and ready for Week 1, we’ll turn our attention to Dak Prescott’s contract situation, and we’re looking at Trey Lance’s trade value and where a rule change will likely leave him in 2024. Finally in News and Notes, a look ahead at which key Browns playmaker won’t be on the field for the Cowboys’ season-opening visit to Cleveland.
