It is mock draft season.
Unfortunately for the Dallas Cowboys, they are preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft instead of playing in the 2025 playoffs. With plenty in limbo with the Cowboys coaching staff, the job of the Cowboys scouting department does not stop. With the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game just around the corner, here is a three-round mock draft for the Cowboys that can help them return to playoff contention in 2025.
We will be using the Mock Draft Database mock draft simulator to give us a realistic feel to how this draft could play out for the Cowboys this coming April. Let’s dive in.
Round 1, 12th Overall
With the 12th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select…
Tetairoa McMillan, Wide Receiver, Arizona

For the Dallas Cowboys, this would be the best case scenario for their first-round pick. The Cowboys have a pick of the top running back and two of the top three receivers in the 2025 draft. With Burden playing a majority of his snaps out of the slot for Missouri in 2024 and that being where CeeDee Lamb does a majority of his work, finding an outside complement to Lamb should be at the top of the list for the Cowboys in 2025.
Tetairoa McMillan is the top boundary receiver in this class playing 379 of his 485 pass snaps on the outside in 2024. McMillan has earned comps to Atlanta Falcons receiver Drake London and Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins throughout the early stages of the draft process, providing the Cowboys with size, speed, and reliable ball skills on the outside. Dallas has lacked a reliable, game-changing receiver on the outside since the Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper days.
The key final piece to grading process….
McMillan route tree is strong, he is a polished competitor, and a dominant WR1.
With 26 career TDs and 3,414 yards in 3 seasons…
Tetairoa McMillan will be the center piece to an elite top-10 NFL offense.

The 6-foot-5, 212-pound wideout is everything the Cowboys need in a receiver to complement Lamb, and provide help to Dak Prescott and whoever the offensive play-caller will be to get their passing game back on track after a down 2024 season.
2nd Round, 44th Overall
With the 44th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select…
TreVeyon Henderson, Running Back, Ohio State

Rico Dowdle finished off the 2024 season with a bang, but with free agency staring him in the face, the Cowboys may be looking to find their new RB1 this offseason. Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson is the prime candidate to take over the role in Dallas.
Henderson is a true three-down back entering the NFL, proving to be a reliable runner, receiver, and pass protector over his career at Ohio State. Henderson checks all the boxes the Cowboys should be looking for in a back, having the explosiveness, contact-balance, and power in-between the tackles packed into his 5-foot-10, 208-pound frame. Henderson is a bit of a late riser with the work he’s done over the course of the College Football Playoffs, but anyone who has been working on the draft throughout the year knew he would be a guy that could be in contention as a top 50 pick in this year’s draft.

Henderson’s 7.2 yards per carry in 2024 is his career best and he has only tallied 395 carries over his three years at Ohio State, leaving plenty of tread left on the tires entering the NFL. The first two-selections in this mock draft scenario provide the Cowboys with much needed juice to an offense that has lacked just that, over the last few years.
Round 3, 76th Overall
With the 76th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select…
Omarr Norman-Lott, Defensive Tackle, Tennessee

It is tough to say this would be my favorite selection of this mock draft scenario after walking away from the first-two rounds with Tetairoa McMillan and TreVeyon Henderson, but this would be the steal of the draft so far for the Cowboys.
Osa Odighizuwa, Linval Joseph, and Carlos Watkins will be hitting free agency and adding new blood to the defensive line is much needed for the Cowboys. Omarr Norman-Lott is an ideal candidate to fill the three-technique void in Dallas. Listed at 6-foot-3, 315-pounds, Norman-Lott adds size, versatility, and pass rush ability to the Cowboys defensive line that relied far too much on Micah Parsons in 2024.
Notable 2025 iDL True Pass Set Win % (PFF) :
Omar Norman-Lott 30.8
Derrick Harmon 26.5
Aeneas Peebles 25.5
TJ Sanders 21.2
Mason Graham 20.8
Darius Alexander 20.4
Rylie Mills 18.9
Walter Nolen 18.8
Alfred Collins 15.5
Kenneth Grant 15.1
Deone Walker 14.7
Tyleik Williams 10.8— Billy M (@BillyM_91) January 17, 2025
If the Cowboys lose Odighizuwa in free agency, 3-technique jumps to the top of the board of needs for the team this offseason, with no options on the roster to take over his role in the defense. Even if Odighizuwa is retained, adding depth to the interior of the defensive line is still a major need that will need to be addressed this offseason. Norman-Lott is a perfect addition to the Cowboys front-seven that needs a lot of help in order to return to playoff contention.
There has been a lot of talk of what the Cowboys could do this upcoming offseason to excite the fanbase after a disastrous 2024 season. Whether that is hiring a big-name head coach, making a splash in free agency, or trading for a big-name player, there is no better chicken soup for the soul than the Cowboys knocking the 2025 NFL Draft out of the park and this scenario would do that.
