Trying to find the right way to quantify Dak Prescott’s place among his peers is a difficult task. Statistically, Prescott’s regular season accomplishments made him one of the top two or three quarterbacks from the 2023 season. His previous year in which he dealt with injuries, was much less heralded as he threw an inordinate amount of interceptions.
Still, perception of him should’ve shifted from post-2022 to post-2023. That’s what infuriated many Cowboys fans with ESPN’s recent rankings of QBs. Prescott landed in a lower spot, 10th, than he did the previous year, 9th, after coming in second in the MVP race. That makes zero sense.
Chris Simms continued his annual tradition of ranking NFL quarterbacks for NBC Sports and has a much more sane take. Simms had Prescott 13th after 2022, but bumped him up the rankings in 2023. Check out the below list of all 40 QBs Simms slotted.
