The Los Angeles Chargers may target unhappy wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in a trade swap package with the Dallas Cowboys before this upcoming season. According to a report, Lamb’s trade rumors have been one of the stories swirling around that’s been the main spotlight of the league so the Cowboys may have to trade him if he continues holding out. Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton made the proposal that would involve the Cowboys sending Lamb in exchange for wideout Joshua Palmer, a first-round pick and third-round picks. The Cowboys would be taking a huge loss if they lose Lamb since Palmer doesn’t replicate the same skillset as him.
However, the source believes it may benefit Dallas in the long term if the Cowboys are patient. Palmer probably does provide an immediate upside and solution to replace Lamb but no one should expect him to perform the same as him. Even though he’s been a consistent weapon for Justin Herbert doesn’t mean he’ll be that same player on a new roster. Palmer was dealing with injuries last season after just appearing in 10 games but was able to notch 581 receiving yards and two touchdowns for a career-high 58.1 receiving yards per game.
He was a primary second target behind Mike Williams and Keenan Allen so it makes sense why a bigger role for Palmer would fit in the Cowboys offense. The Chargers are lacking wideouts and talent surrounding Herbert, including Ladd McConkey and DJ Chark who hasn’t been able to produce more than 600 yards since 2020. The Chargers may have to think again if they trade away one of their wideouts who is already accustomed to the offense.
However, the Chargers would be taking the win if Lamb requests a trade since they need a star playmaker.

Next Possible Teams
Carolina Panthers
The team has a long way to go despite getting a supporting cast for second-year quarterback Bryce Young. Diontae Johnson, Xavier Legette and Adam Thielen may assumingly be enough for Young but the idea of trading for Lamb brings a championship mentality. It would get the league talking about the Panthers and it probably get them a trip to the postseason but things always change throughout the year. Johnson is in the final year of his contract and just because they made one trade for a wideout doesn’t mean anything.
Legette needs a couple of years to become a reliable target while he adjusts to the NFL so it may be safe for the team to trade for Lamb. He’s the type of receiver who’s in his prime and ready to produce numbers no matter where he lands. It would ensure that if the Panthers do decide to trade Thielen, it would open the door for Lamb to become their No. 1 receiver while Johnson signs a new extension next offseason as their No. 2 wideout.
Kansas City Chiefs
Marquise Brown might have been working behind the scenes to tease that Lamb could land with the Chiefs. This comes after speculation that both Lamb and Brown have matching profile pictures and Twitter headers. However, Brown now faces injury which makes this situation seem like it will be sensible for both sides. The Chiefs would have to give up a lot to get someone like Lamb so Brown doesn’t have that power to physically bring him in.
The Cowboys may not be looking to trade Lamb but if the hand is out and Jones isn’t urgent enough to give him an extension then what’s the waiting game for? Dallas would likely get someone like Rashee Rice and Kadarius Toney in return could end up intriguing the front office in that scenario.
Baltimore Ravens
A trade that would set the league on fire is Lamb joining a powerhouse offense that includes Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers. If the Ravens are looking to beat out their rivals this season then something has to give to become the best in the AFC. Lamb joining to improve the passing game and help guys like Rashod Bateman in the slot would make too much sense.
