It’s been several months since the New Orleans Saints released All-Pro wide receiver Michael Thomas and there’s been little word on who he plans to suit up for in 2024 – if anyone. But some new info indicates that the Dallas Cowboys could be on his list.
According to a new betting future on BetOnline, Thomas is now the favorite to join the Cowboys in free agency. Thomas has 3/1 odds to join America’s Team, 5/1 odds to join the Buffalo Bills, 6/1 to the Baltimore Ravens and 8/1 to the Denver Broncos. The Kansas City Chiefs are also there at 10/1 odds.
It’s hard to tell whether Thomas hasn’t signed because he hasn’t found the right situation for himself or a lack of interest from other teams. Between 2016 and 2019, he seemed to be on the fast-track to Canton Ohio, enjoying four straight 1,000-yard seasons and breaking the single-season receptions record with 149 in 2019.
Thomas made three Pro Bowls, two First-Team All-Pro selections and was voted Offensive Player of the Year in 2019 – the first wide receiver to win that award since Jerry Rice all the way back in 1993.
But a slew of injuries between 2020 and 2022 ground his career to a screeching halt. In the past four seasons he’s been limited to just 20 games.
The end result was a sad breakup between Thomas and the Saints, who released him in March.
At 31 years of age, Thomas should still have something left in the tank if he’s all healed from his injuries.
Would Thomas be a good fit for the Dallas Cowboys?
