Like all NFL teams, the Cowboys have their fair share of both good and bad contracts. The bad contracts stick out like sore thumbs. They simultaneously raise the bar for the player and shine a spotlight on each misstep, big and small. Even with Dallas’ frugalness in recent seasons, they aren’t without their share of bad contracts. Regret is unavoidable in this business.
The good contracts on the book are equally as noteworthy. The Cowboys miserly attitude towards signing veteran players has resulted in some pretty savvy team-friendly deals. Hardball negotiations inevitably loses players, but it also delivers some sweetheart deals as well.
Since rookie contracts are inherently low-cost and team friendly, they will be excluded from this exercise. Only players on second deals or with some degree of separation from the college game will qualify for this list.
