The loss by the Aggies to the Tigers is sending the Bulldogs to Atlanta.
A chaotic day in the SEC on Saturday did have some major benefits as the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels, and Texas A&M Aggies all lost and simplified the potential complex tiebreaker process to determine which two teams will face off in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta next month.
Finished with conference play heading into the Thanksgiving weekend, No. 10 Georgia clinched its spot in the SEC title game for a fourth straight season thanks to A&M’s four-overtime loss to Auburn.
The Aggies still have a chance to reach Atlanta if they can beat the Longhorns on Saturday in College Station thanks to the tiebreaker process. If Texas wins, the Horns secure the top seed and a rematch with the Bulldogs, always a possibility when Georgia beat Texas in Austin 30-15 last month.
But the Aggies stand in the way of that rematch hoping to make up for the upset by the Tigers with a rivalry win over the Longhorns.
