University of Texas football coach Jeff Banks got married last weekend.
Banks, an assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the Longhorns, posted a photo with his new bride, Danielle Thomas.
“Incredible 72 hours with our family and closest friends,” Banks wrote on Instagram. “We truly love you all. Now off to Barcelona for our honeymoon!”
They’ve been together for at least three years, as they faced a bizarre lawsuit in 2021.
In 2021, a couple sued Banks and Thomas claiming that Thomas’ monkey bit their child on Halloween. The lawsuit identified Thomas as “Pole Assassin,” her stage name as a stripper. Her Instagram bio also includes the “Poleassassin” moniker.
An ESPN story on the case also said that Thomas previously appeared with the money on The Jerry Springer Show.
“Instead of showing any semblance of care for an injured child, Danielle Thomas was instead worried about the risk of her monkey being taken away. … Danielle Thomas stated to the physician that the monkey had bitten her before and that she was fine, implying that the monkey therefore did not have rabies,” the lawsuit alleged.
Banks was beginning his first season at Texas during the monkey-biting incident. Last year, he saw kicker Bert Auburn set school records with 29 field goals (including 19 in a row) and 143 points for a team that won the Big 12 title and made the College Football Playoff.
Banks previously won a national championship when working for Nick Saban alongside Steve Sarkisian as Alabama’s special teams coordinator.
