The stars will be out in full force this weekend in Austin.
We’ve spent a lot of time talking about the matchup between the No. 1 Texas Longhorns and the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs that will take place between the white lines, but now it time to talk about the recruiting ramifications of one of the biggest games on the docket in in the 2024 regular season.
If you want to see four stars and five stars, then Austin, Texas is where you need to be this weekend. There is a big party scheduled for about 6:30 at Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, and the guest list is a long and distinguished one.
Texas will have almost 20 of their own commits between the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes in the house on Saturday and there will be dozens of uncommitted prospects on hand to take in this blockbuster matchup.
Here is a list of expected attendees for the showdown between the Longhorns and Bulldogs as we inch closer to the marquee matchup of the week.

TEXAS 2026 COMMITS
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell
Pearland Shadow Creek wide receiver Chris Stewart
Carrollton (Ga.) safety Zelus Hicks
The Longhorns have one of the top recruiting classes in the country and they will be well represented this weekend in Austin. With guys like KJ Lacey and Dia Bell scheduled to be in town, you can bet they will have their recruiting caps fitted on tight with the amount of talent that will in the stands.
2025 OFFICIAL VISITORS
Loganville (Ga.) Grayson defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou — Florida commit
Mbatchou’s recruitment has absolutely blown up over the past few months after his commitment to Florida in the summer. Since his commitment to the Gators, Mbatchou has received offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and USC. Mbatchou is will officially visit Texas this weekend and has officials on the docket to Auburn and Florida next month.
Galveston Ball safety Jonah Williams — Texas commit

One of the biggest recruiting wins for Texas this cycle. The Longhorns were able to land Williams’ commitment despite not hosting him for an official visit in the summer. This weekend the five-star stud from Galveston will finally make his official visit to Austin.

This one was a bit of an unexpected curveball. Terry’s name hasn’t really been linked with Texas this cycle, but he has been heavily linked to Alabama and Georgia since de-committing from USC. I think this recruitment falls in the “believe it when I see it” bucket, but I will never fault a staff for shooting their shot on a talent like Terry’s. Get him on campus and see what happens.
2025 UNOFFICIAL VISITORS
Hitchcock wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson — Texas A&M commit
Texas was recruiting Johnson very hard prior to his commitment to Texas A&M. Now that the Longhorns have three wide outs in the boat for this class, I wonder if the staff will opt to allocate resources elsewhere.
Hitchcock four-star defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson — Nebraska commit
Speaking of allocating resources elsewhere. The Texas staff is definitely looking to add more defensive tackles to the class, and Simpson is one they have been evaluating closely. Texas has not offered yet, so they have not opted to go all in yet on this recruitment.
Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School three-star defensive lineman Walter Mathis Jr. — LSU commit
Another defensive tackle prospect that is committed elsewhere. Texas is casting a wide net at the position, as they try to restock the pantry with Kenny Baker set to lose multiple upperclassmen heading into 2025.
Cocoa (Fla.) EDGE Javion Hilson
All signs and tea leaves point to Texas being in a strong position here following Hilson’s de-commitment from Florida State. This will be Hilson’s first trip back to campus since his official visit in the summer. Can the Texas staff get him off his timeline and into the boat this weekend? We shall see.
McKinney linebacker Riley Pettijohn — Ohio State commit
Texas was highly invested in this recruitment for a long time before Pettijohn ultimately picked the Buckeyes over the field. He is too talented of a prospect to walk away from, and now you will get him back on campus to continue working on him.
San Antonio Alamo Heights five-star athlete Michael Terry III
Another five-star visitor here, as Terry will make the trip up the interstate from San Antonio to once again see the Longhorns. The Longhorns have positioned themselves well here in this recruitment, as they continue to battle Nebraska and Oregon for the do-it-all offensive weapon from the Alamo City.

Whew. Stars galore on that portion of the visitor list. It is going to be an all hands on deck operation for the recruiting staffers. The Texas staff has been building up to this weekend for months and now it is finally here. This was always expected to be a massive recruiting weekend with Georgia coming to town, but Texas being undefeated and being the number one ranked team just takes it into the stratosphere.
Texas is already red hot on the recruiting trail, but a win on Saturday could absolutely take things to the moon and beyond.
