The coveted in-state lineman decided to stay home and play for the Longhorns.
The 2026 class for the Texas Longhorns picked up its first #BigHuman Wednesday with the addition of Max Wright to offensive line coach Kyle Flood’s group.

The lanky tackle out of Melissa High School boasted 22 offers, including the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Arkansas Razorbacks, and the TCU Horned Frogs. Wright attended Junior Days at Texas and SMU before making his decision; his only official visit it scheduled to Austin in June.
Ranked as a consensus three-star prospect, Wright is the No. 409 player nationally and the No. 33 offensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Wright measures 6’6.5 and 290 pounds heading into his senior year with the Cardinal, with a frame that screams tackle and begs for time in a college strength and conditioning program. He becomes the third member of the 2026 class, joining quarterback Dia Bell — a top-25 overall prospect — and wide receiver Chris Stewart out of Humble Shadow Creek.
He joins an offensive line group that has continually stacked talent, allowing a longer development cycle as he fills out his frame and adjusts to the requirements of playing tackle in the SEC — the Longhorns took a tackle prospect out of Melissa with a similar ranking and frame to Wright in Trevor Goosby, who projects as the program’s starting left tackle in 2025 after two years of development.
