The SEC ‘ship? The CFP? It’s a new football world
The Texas Longhorns experienced their first loss of the 2024 college football season yesterday. It seemed as though the Texas football program was outmatched in virtually every category versus the Georgia Bulldogs, who pulled ahead of Texas in the most recent AP Poll, while the Longhorns fell to No. 5. It was an example of the Southeastern Conference in its purest form, even if, at one point, Texas fans rained beer cans on the field following a referees’ bad call, of which they inevitably picked up the flag on moments later.
Best of times, worst times kind of thing, as that English guy kind of said.
Either way, it was more fun than watching Texas occasionally lose to Kansas in the Big 12.
Plus, with the SEC’s new championship qualifier rules, and without divisions, this past Saturday might not be the last time the Longhorns face the Bulldogs in the 2024 season.
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit seems to agree.
What an amazing scene last night in Austin. Celebrities from everywhere were fired up to see those 2 powerhouse programs go at it. Congrats to @GeorgiaFootball on a great win-have a feeling those teams will meet again at some point! pic.twitter.com/mn4QlPOeIH
