Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell did something at the NFL Combine that only one other wide receiver since 2015 has done.
Mitchell has joined DK Metcalf as the only wide receiver prospect to run a 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds or less, measure at least 6’2, and weigh at least 205 lbs.
That’s certainly some great company to be in since Metcalf is one of the best receivers in the NFL.
He’ll now have the chance to try and live up to how good he’s been once he gets drafted in late April.
Mitchell spent the 2023 season with Texas and put up the best numbers of his career after spending the previous two seasons at Georgia. He finished with 55 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Before this season, his best year had come in 2021 when he compiled 29 receptions for 426 yards and four touchdowns.
His 40-yard dash time and his numbers will surely grab the attention of some NFL teams that were in attendance to watch him.
It’ll be fascinating to see what round he gets drafted in when the NFL Draft gets underway next month.
