Is Booker college women’s basketball’s new shining star?
Texas Longhorns women’s basketball is surging at the moment. That’s largely thanks to the dominate play we’ve seen out of sophomore Madison Booker, who was named this week as both the SEC Player of the Week and the AP Player of the Week, according to Texas Athletics.
The honors come after Booker averaged 20 points each day last week as Texas beat No. 24 Vanderbilt and No. 2 South Carolina. Roughly 1.3 million viewers made Texas’ win over South Carolina ESPN’s most-watched college women’s basketball game so far this season.
From Texas Athletics:
“Booker has scored 20 or more points in 11 games this season and has reached double-figures in 20 games this season and the last eight in a row. Over the Longhorns current eight game winning streak, Booker is averaging 20.1 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Booker is shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from 3-point range over that stretch.”
