Vic Schaefer’s program is so far 31-3 on the season
Texas Longhorns women’s basketball learned on Selection Sunday that they will play from the No. 1 seed for a second consecutive season. In other words, Texas hosts the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament at the Moody Center, if Texas wins their first matchup.
Texas (31-3) plays the winner of No. 16 seeds William & Mary and High Point—Texas is so far the favorite to win. In the second round, Texas would play No. 8 Illinois or No. 9 Creighton.
The Texas women’s program has advanced to the Elite Eight in three of the past four seasons.
This year, Texas claimed a piece of the Southeastern Conference regular season championship after the women’s team split wins with powerhouse South Carolina—the reigning national champions. In the SEC Tournament, Texas fell to South Carolina.
Look for Texas standout Madison Booker, a sophomore and the latest SEC Player of the Year, to continue her hot streak as the women’s team enjoys the latest opportunity to go dancin’.
