Texas makes its presence known in team’s new league
The Texas Longhorns women’s soccer team has been crowned the Southeastern Conference’s champions. Texas beat South Carolina 1-0 to claim this year’s league’s championship—for the Longhorns, it’s the program’s first season in the 16-team SEC.
“I’m so incredibly proud of this team. Just what a battle, right? We didn’t have much left in the tank after the other night, but the fact that the score at half today was one that we liked, it gave us the ability to open up the press a little more with only 45 minutes left. We weathered the first half and then opened up during the second half and executed a wonderful set piece,” Texas soccer head coach Angela Kelly said postgame, according to Texas Athletics.
From Texas Athletics: “Texas (16-3-2) will find out its postseason destination on Monday, Nov. 11, when the NCAA will hold its Division I women’s soccer selection show at 3 p.m. CT.”
