The Horns will host the Bulldogs next weekend in Austin as the nation’s top team in both polls.
With the eyes of the college football world on the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns demolished the Oklahoma Sooners, a convincing enough performance that the Longhorns received 52 of the 56 first-place votes in the AP Top 25 poll and 53 of the 55 first-place votes in the Coaches Poll released on Sunday.
So the Longhorns head into next weekend’s showdown against the No. 5/No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs in Austin as the top-ranked team in the country for another week with the Sooners justifiably dropping out of both polls.
The Oregon Ducks moved up to second with their instant-classic 32-31 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes, now at No. 4/No. 5.
Elsewhere in the SEC, the polls agree with Alabama at No. 7 and LSU at No. 8 before diverging with Tennessee at No. 11/No. 10, agreeing on Texas A&M at No. 14, slotting Ole Miss No. 18/No. 15, and Missouri at No. 19/No. 16.
