As the Texas Longhorns avoided an upset against the Florida Gators in a convincing 49-17 win in Austin, losses by the Georgia Bulldogs to the Ole Miss Rebels and the Miami Hurricanes to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets allowed the Horns to move up from No. 5 to No. 3 in the AP Top 25 poll and the Coaches Poll released on Sunday.
The second loss by the Bulldogs not only upended the SEC standings, but also dropped Georgia to No. 11 in the AP and No. 10 in the Coaches Poll as Ole Miss moved up to No. 10/No. 11. Miami fell to No. 12 in both polls.
Elsewhere around the conference, Alabama’s blowout win over LSU moved the Crimson Tide up to No. 9 in both polls as the Tigers fell to No. 21/No. 22. On a bye week, Texas A&M remained at No. 15, Tennessee moved up to No. 6/No. 4 after beating Mississippi State, South Carolina is at No. 23 in both polls, and Missouri is No. 24/No. 21.
