It led to a lot of fans feeling weird about the post.
“This is why no one likes you,” one tweet read.
“If SEC fans are pissed off at this tweet, just wait until whoever runs the Texas volleyball team’s account gets into midseason form,” another tweet read.
“I feel like this is a challenge to get someone to make the Statue of Liberty do Horns Down,” another tweet read.
“Could we all take a moment of solitude, wherever you are, and throw up one helluva horns down?” another fan tweeted.
“This level of blasphemy is so large it could only come from Texas,” another tweet read.
The Texas football program is coming off a 2023 season in which it lost to Washington in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Texas will be playing in the SEC for the first time this year after officially joining the conference on July 1. The program’s first game of the 2024 season will be against Colorado State on August 31.
