The Washington State alum spent 10 seasons on Mike Gundy’s staff in Stillwater.
Former college teammates Jeff Banks and Jason McEndoo have reunited in Austin with the Texas Longhorns hiring longtime Oklahoma State Cowboys tight ends coach Jason McEndoo following his termination by Mike Gundy in the wake of the 3-9 season in Stillwater.

McEndoo played center at Washington State when Banks was the punter for the Cougars before playing three seasons in the NFL.
After playing professionally, McEndoo started his coaching career in his home state of Washington and moved into the college ranks as the offensive line coach at Montana State from 2003 to 2014, when he was hired by Gundy to coach the Cowboy backs, a hybrid tight end/fullback position, until 2023, when Oklahoma State moved to more traditional fullback and tight end roles.
During McEndoo’s time in Stillwater, he coached two future NFL players — Blake Jarwin and Jelani Woods.
Texas has an inexperienced position room for the 2025 season after Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis exhausted their eligibility and Amari Niblack transferred to Texas A&M, making McEndoo an important addition to the staff.
