A consensus four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, Codie was ranked as the No. 61 player nationally and the No. 10 power forward, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, when he signed with Texas over finalists Auburn, Houston LSU, and Miami.
Codie’s Texas career suffered a setback before it started, however, when a knee injury ended his senior season after 14 games, limiting him during the offseason and preseason practice before causing him to miss the first four games of the season.
Codie was an infrequent contributor in conference play with his only two baskets coming in five minutes during the blowout win over LSU in Baton Rouge, but he did flash his upside in a 20-point performance against UAPB on 8-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-2 from three, adding two rebounds and an assist.
The low defensive rebounding rate of 10.9 percent for Codie in 105 minutes provides some cause for concern in a pretty small sample size, but his high-level shooting touch, length, and movement ability make him an intriguing player for the 2025-26 season with a full offseason of development.
Codie is the first Texas player to officially announce their decision to play for Miller. So far the Horns lost only one player to the NCAA transfer portal with rising junior wing Devon Pryor landing at Oregon. On Monday, Miller made his first addition to the program with the commitment of former Xavier wing Dailyn Swain, a rising junior.
