Two years after Rodney Terry led the Texas Longhorns to the Elite Eight as interim head coach, athletics director Chris Del Conte fired Terry after a 40-29 record over the last two seasons that ended with a First Four loss in the NCAA Tournament to the Xavier Musketeers.
In an ironic twist of fate, the architect of Terry’s final game as the Longhorns head coach, Sean Miller, was hired by Del Conte as Terry’s replacement hours after making the decision to move on from the longtime Texas assistant.
