The latest on Jaydon Blue, DeAndre Moore Jr., and Mo Blackwell.
AUSTIN, Texas — During Steve Sarkisian’s Monday press conference, the Texas Longhorns head coach shared his optimism about the injury status of three players — junior running back Jaydon Blue, wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr., and senior linebacker Mo Blackwell.
Blue was seen in a sling after the win over Arkansas on Saturday, but Sarkisian said that the junior practiced on Monday.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Sarkisian said.
Moore played a just five snaps in Fayetteville due to a foot injury, the second-fewest snaps of the season after another minor injury limited him to three snaps against Louisiana-Monroe.
A reserve who plays a key role on special teams, Blackwell showed up on the SEC-mandated injury report released by Texas and was eventually ruled out, but Sarkisian is hopeful that he’ll be able to contribute against Kentucky on Saturday.
“Those two guys are integral parts to our program, not only on offense and defense, but on special teams they’re critical, so hopefully we get both those guys back again,” Sarkisian said.
Texas redshirt freshman edge Colton Vasek has also missed the last two games due to injury.
